4 Changes in a Woman’s Body During Pregnancy

July 31, 2019 by Jarred

Pregnancy is the most beautiful part of a woman’s life, which is why many women want to be mothers in their lives. This process doesn’t just change a woman emotionally but also transforms her physically in a way that she would have never imagined. If you are about to become a mommy or are planning to, then you must go through this article to know about the major changes that your body will go through this beautiful stage of your life. Keep in mind that the nine months of pregnancy will completely transform you as a person.

Four changes in a woman’s body during pregnancy:

1. Blood volume increases

Surprised to know about this fact? Yes, this happens. The volume of blood increases in a woman’s body by a staggering 50%. This is because a woman’s uterus needs extra blood to function properly.

Along with that, the heart starts pumping more blood to the body during the process. This is why many women start feeling dense and often run into obesity early. By the end of pregnancy, the uterus consumes around one-fifth of the blood of the woman’s body.

2. A new organ grows in the body

Intriguingly, both men and women carry the organs that they’re are born with, till they die. Women go the extra mile and naturally grow a new organ that is known as the placenta. This organ is a nutshell for the baby and protects its body. The growing baby body needs oxygen and all the vital nutrients. The placenta supplies all the necessary elements to the baby. After the birth of the baby, the placenta is exited from the birth canal. You will be surprised to know that placenta is eaten in many parts of the world because of its health benefits.

3. You start breathing differently

It is very common for pregnant women to feel short of breath. This is because the uterus grows large enough to press the diaphragm. With growing time, the body feels short of oxygen and hormone levels of progesterone increase in the body. This compels the levels of carbon dioxide to fall in the blood. Many women complain of heavy breathing and start feeling differently when it comes to moving amongst a lot of people.

4. Pregnancy increase weight

For most women who don’t work out, the chances are very high that their body weight will increase drastically. This is why many medical experts suggest women exercise during this phase. Seldom do a lot of women focus on this aspect. For first time mums, the weight gains are going to be substantial. Conclusion:
