10 Reasons Why Millennials Love This Florida City

April 24, 2020 by Jarred

It’s no surprise that millennials love cities such as New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston, but here’s one under-the-radar option that’s recently grown in popularity: Jacksonville, Florida. Why is it so popular and why do younger people continue to move there? Check out 10 reasons below.

1. It’s Highly Ranked

In recent years, Jacksonville has ranked among the top places where millennials are moving, based on a SmartAsset survey. Seeing the results of the survey encourages young people to come to the city, since they know there are people of similar ages there, as well as many opportunities of which to take advantage.

2. Low Cost of Living

Compared to places like San Francisco, Manhattan, and Seattle, Jacksonville offers a lower cost of living and no income tax, making it easier for young people to make ends meet and live the life they want.

3. Higher Education Opportunities

With Jacksonville University, University of North Florida and University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville right in the city, the opportunity to continue one’s education is easy. Plus, with top schools like University of Miami and University of Florida within the state, plenty of graduates end up coming to Jacksonville, for good reason.

4. A Thriving Job Market

As a leading center for jobs in finance, medicine, and healthcare, there’s a thriving job market in Jacksonville. Young people will be able to start and advance their careers there.

5. Warm Weather and Beaches

Surfs up! Barrier island beaches, including Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach, are popular with young beach-goers going for a swim, surf, beach walk, or sunbathing session. The year-round warm weather and mild temperatures make the Jacksonville area an outdoor hotspot. Amelia Island and Little Talbot Island State Park also offer scenic views of nature and wildlife.

6. Good Eats and Drinks

Whether diners like seafood, sushi, pub grub, Italian, or something else, they’ll find it in Jacksonville. With an emphasis on fresh food, the numerous dining options will surprise and delight even the most seasoned foodies. And, there are plenty of breweries, too — those looking for a good drink should check out Jax Ale Trail.

7. Opportunities to Get Cultured

Jacksonville has a thriving arts and music scene. Art can be found at the Museum of Contemporary Arts, on murals, in the Arts District, at concerts, and on stage. There are plenty of museums to see, performances to watch, and places to explore.

8. Go Team!

Sports fans will be at home here. Whether they’re cheering on the Jacksonville Jaguars or a college team, rooting for a minor league team to make it big, or watching surfers catch a wave in one of the many area-wide competitions, friendly competition is in their blood.

9. Plenty of Entertainment

Night owl? There are plenty of nightclubs at which to dance the evening away to the latest hits. Animal lover? Take a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens or the Catty Shack Ranch Animal Sanctuary. History buff? Stroll over to the Museum of Science and History or the Kingsley Plantation to learn about Jacksonville’s past and how far it has come. There’s something for everyone in the River City.

10. Easy to Move to

Not only does Jacksonville have numerous things to do and plenty of job opportunities for millennials, but it’s an easy place to relocate to. For those interested in relocating, contact a moving company Jacksonville, FL.
