How To Prepare Your Car For A UK Road Trip

April 14, 2018 by Jarred

If you have your heart set on taking an adventure-filled road trip through the UK in the next few months, before you set off on your big adventure, TyrePlus believes it’s definitely well worth discovering how you can prepare your car for the journey ahead.

UK road trips and how your car needs to be prepared for the journey ahead:

 1. Make sure to check the condition of all four of your car’s tyres

Your first task should be to check the condition of all four of your car’s tyres. As the last thing you want to do is to start out on your journey with one of more tyres which need to be repaired or replaced. As you may well find yourself stuck out on a country road, miles away from the next town with a tyre that needs to be replaced.

 2. Consider taking your car to a tyre specialist to check the condition of your tyres

If your knowledge of tyres is somewhat limited, it’s well worth seeking out a tyre specialist such as a tyre specialist at TyrePlus, who’ll be able to give you sound advice on whether or not you need to replace one or more of your tyres.

Better yet, it’s well worth chatting with a tyre specialist as they’ll be able to tell you which types of tyres are best suited to your upcoming road trip. As an example, if you plan on traveling on snow-covered roads, during your trip, your tyre specialist may be able to recommend winter tyres for your vehicle. Which will give your car added grip on icy roads and which will prevent your car from sliding off the road.

Alternatively, if you plan on traveling outside of winter but plan on traversing a mixture of smooth asphalt roads and dirt covered country lanes, your tyre specialist may opt to recommend all-terrain tyres. Which are just as suited to asphalt city roads as they are on dirt covered lanes and every type of road in between!

 3. Make sure that you’ve changed your car’s oil

If your car’s oil isn’t changed you run the risk of your car overheating, which can be extremely dangerous. Especially on multiple day road trips. So do yourself a favor and make sure to have your car’s oil professionally changed as part of a full service.

 4. Treat your car to a full service, before you embark on your epic road trip

One of the key reasons why it’s well worth treating your car to a full service before your upcoming road trip is that your mechanic should be able to identify any potential problems with your car. Which you should find out about and fix before you head out on your upcoming UK road trip.

So if you’re excited about embarking on your next road trip around the UK and want to ensure that your car is safe to drive around the UK, it’s well worth checking of all of the checklist items listed above, before you place your luggage in the trunk or boot of your car!
