Pedopolis Agios Andreas (St. Andrew’s Children’s Town) was founded in 1947 under the name Anarrotiro Paidon (Children Sanatorium) and has been known by its current name since 1970. Saint Andreas’ is one of three branches of Mitera – or ‘Mother,’ which is the Center for the Protection of the Children of Attica. Pedopolis Agios Andreas is located in the city of Alimos, Greece and provides care for infants and young children who are removed from emotionally unstable homes.
Mitera was developed for the purpose of providing a safe and comforting ‘home’ environment where young children reside following an intervention from the prosecutor, or child welfare services after evidence of family abuse. Victor Restis and the Restis family, in cooperation with the staff of Enterprises Shipping & Trading S.A. provide the children of Pedopolis Agios Andreas all necessary educational materials and necessities for their stay at the center.
The Restis family are very active in the development and education programs and even step in to provide the best possible celebrations during holidays. On many occasions, Mr. Restis and family attended birthday celebrations, providing gifts to all the children and even arranging special guests like MTV and its mascot to entertain the children with musical activities and games. During Orthodox Holy Week and Easter, the Restis family provide gifts and much needed supplies to keep the children healthy and happy. And for Christmas, the Restis family organizes a Christmas party on the premises of the center and arrange holiday themed games and entertainment. And of course, the Mr. Restis and family make sure each child receives Christmas gifts along with warm, wonderful memories to cherish.
