We are very much living in crazy times given the recent pandemic and this of course means that a great many of us will be stuck at home for quite some time. What this presents us with is two things, the first thing is that it presents us with a chance to learn something new during our downtime, and the other thing it gives us the knowledge that it shouldn’t take a lockdown to inspire us to use our time at home better. There is so much that you can do when you are at home and here are just a handful of things to try out.
Musical Instrument
If you have a guitar, violin or any other musical instrument in the house then now is the time to whip it out and finally start learning how to play it. There is a wealth of information online which you can find to help you learn and given all of this spare time which you have there is no better way of using it then by learning to play a tune, just imagine how impressed your friends and family will be once you are able to grab a guitar at a party and serenade them all.
Chess
Chess is a tough game and one which will take a long time to learn, perfect for all of this time which you are going to have at home. I have been learning chess since we have been locked down alongside my great friend and very good chess player Javier Burillo, and he has been great in showing me the ways of the game. If you don’t have someone to help you learn then don’t worry as you can find many websites which are dedicated to helping beginners to play chess, alternatively you can buy yourself a book and a board and try to teach yourself.
New Language
Given that we are living in the digital age a new language becomes much easier to learn than ever before. Learning a language straight from a book or even online lessons can be hard because practicing with someone is not always easy, and it is practicing vocally which gives you the confidence and the belief which you need to keep going. Thankfully there are many language learning apps online where you can speak to people from around the world in their own language to give you just the amount of practice to keep things going.
Crafts
Ever wanted to try out origami? Learn how to make coasters? If so then now is the time for you to get handy and start to make something new and exciting, who knows you may even be able to make something which you can sell if you get good enough. As with all of the activities on here you can find a wealth of information online about how to get started from videos to written guides, all you need is a touch of motivation and the right materials.
Don’t waste time at home, there is so much that you could be learning!
