One of the most pleasing aspects of Sci-Fi films and often overlooked, is the social and political theorizing that takes place inside the film. Often this maligned genre is discredited as being farcical but on analysis you realize that at its centre, is the relationship between technology and humankind, fueled by the fallacy of science progression. The Matrix trilogy has its Christian undertones to the thematic story of a singular savior set to unmask the veil of superficiality across reality. Beyond this, there are genuine philosophical underpinnings countered by exhilarating action sequences and soundtracks that could define a great dance party. As such, The Matrix makes for a great movie marathon well suited for the later hours of your festive social gathering.
