Hair loss occurs in both sexes and it can affect not just the scalp but also parts of the body where hair is found. To understand how it happens and what can be done, ReGen for men presents the 7 most common causes of hair loss and what you can do about it.

1. Age

Aging is inevitable and so is the hair loss (sort of) that comes with it. Thick hair strands also thin out, while some hair follicles cease the production of new hairs. Many men become bald (completely or partially) by the time they are 60 years old.

Many factors contribute to the rate of hair loss due to aging. While some of these factors (such as genetics) cannot be eliminated, taking care of your hair and scalp today will help ensure that you will continue to enjoy a health head of hair when you are older.

2. Stress

When the body is under constant stress or pressure, it may not receive sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals in the bloodstream. By changing your lifestyle, diet, and habits, you can combat the effects of stress and save your hair from thinning out.

3. Fungal Infection

There are fungi that affect both the hair and the scalp. Fungal infections cause bald patches on the affected skin, severe itching (which in turn leads to scratching that damages the follicles), inflammation, and brittle hair. Fungal infections are best treated with antifungals to control the cause of the problem.

4. Thyroid Issues

Prolonged cases of severe hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can lead to hair loss. Problems with the thyroid glands affect the metabolic rate of the body. This in turn affects the hair follicles which results in the premature growth of the hair root and shaft, and in the delay in the production of replacement hairs. Problems associated with the thyroid may be managed by medication and/or a change in the diet.

5. Medications

Some medications such as chemotherapy drugs, anticoagulants, antifungals, antibiotics, anti-acne, immunosuppresants, anti-convulsants, and anti-depressants can lead to loss of hair. High doses of some vitamins, specifically Vit. A, can also cause hair thinning or baldness. If you notice hair loss during or after taking medication, ask your doctor for an alternative. You may find another type of drug or medicine that is as effective but does not have an unwanted side effect.

6. Surgery and Chronic Disease

Although the association between anesthesia and hair loss is unclear and as of yet, unproven, many doctors and their patients believe there may be a link. Periods under anesthesia that last for several hours may increase the risk of hair loss for patients. Chronic diseases such as lupus, diabetes, HIV, alopecia, and cancer can also lead to the thinning of hair.

7. Hormonal Imbalance

Low levels of testosterone have been linked to hair loss among men. This hormone helps stimulate the hair follicle, which then results in healthy hair growth. If this hormone is absent or is severely decreased, pattern baldness occurs. Hair loss due to testosterone can be effectively treated with topical minoxidil. FDA-approved treatments such as this help in the regrowth of hair in affected areas.

How ReGen Hair for Men Can Help

ReGen Hair for Men is a topical shampoo that helps stimulate the scalp to encourage the regrowth of hair. It contains 5% Minoxidil to stimulate hair follicles and ensure the growth of strong, thick hair. Minoxidil is an FDA-approved treatment that has shown to be the most effective of hair loss treatments in the market today and it is the ingredient that makes ReGen Hair the best option for hair loss in men.
