Signs Of A Happy Cat – How To Understand My Cat

September 23, 2020 by Jarred

Did you know that cats can be as expressive (if not more than) as humans? They display certain unique signs through their body language and sounds to tell their owners how happy they are. As a cat owner, you only have to watch out for these signs clearly to understand your pet’s emotions thoroughly. Here are some of the most common symptoms of a happy cat.

Notice the posture of your cat

Are the paws of your cat nicely tucked in when they are sleeping? This means your cat is comfortable and happy. Also, your cat’s tail is a good sign to tell you whether he is happy or not. If his tail is straight, and only the tips of his tail move in curves towards left or right, he is in a happy space. On the other hand, if he keeps moving his tail back and forth in swift movements, he is in a foul mood, you will have to make him happy.

How is it’s potty schedule?

This is an important question you have to ask yourself, to know if your cat is happy or not. Most of the happy and healthy cats only use the litter boxes designated to them for peeing and pooping. Sometimes, if your cat’s litter box is unclean or over-full with litter, it may anger your cats. He may start urinating in other places in the house. To avoid upsetting your cats with unclean litter boxes, you can consider buying a clean and hygienic cat litter disposal that is free from odors and chemicals.

Check for her head movements

If your cat loves to play with you by bumping his head against yours, it means he is in a very happy mood. According to cat experts, the first sign of a happy cat is their increased social skills. Your cat would like to snuggle with you, or he would like to cuddle with you on your bed at the time of sleeping. When your cat displays these actions, you can be relieved that he is happy and satisfied.

It is important for you to watch out for his fur at all times. If you noticed that the fur on his back and tail portions are in a raised position, it should ring an alarm bell in your mind. This means your cat may be upset, angry, or disturbed about something.

How is your cat’s appetite?

Does your cat empty his food bowl every single time? Does he purr around you sweetly and show you his bowl, as if to indicate that he is hungry? If yes, you have nothing to worry about; you have a happy cat, indeed! On the other hand, if your cat doesn’t show any interest in his food, or if he overeats most of the time, he is disturbed about something. You should take him to a vet right away, when you notice that his appetite levels are not regular.

In a nutshell, all you should do is to watch out for the regular routines of your pet cat. If he is active and healthy, it means he is happy as well.
