What are fireplace tool sets?

October 29, 2021 by Jarred

It is easy to get overwhelmed while looking for fireplace accessories because there are so many alternatives. You could have trouble deciding which tools you require. You know you’ll need special tools to keep your fires going, but what exactly do you need? You might not have enough room to uphold every sort of fireplace accessory.

This article will share the fireplace tool sets we believe are the most important for fireplace maintenance.

Poker

You’ll need a good fireplace poker that can catch, scrape, and shove burning firewood to care for your wood fires effectively. We propose buying a poker with an insulated handle to avoid getting burned when using this equipment, which is composed of iron and is fireproof. Pokers are available in various lengths, with the longest pokers providing the most protection from the heat and radiation of the flames. A poker is required to handle burning logs without risking injury, according to Do It Yourself.

Bucket and Shovel

When the fire is fading out, a shovel made of iron or metal can get used as a poker. To properly remove ashes from the firebox, you’ll need a fireplace shovel, and you’ll shovel those ashes into the metal bucket. Ensure the bucket has a lid, which is critical for preventing unintentional fires caused by smoldering ashes.

Tongs

Your poker aids in the safe movement of burning wood, but what if you need to pick up a log? Tongs for the fireplace can come in handy here. Tongs make it possible to move and take up firewood without risking being burned.

Broom

When you burn wood, ashes are inevitable, and you’ll have to wipe up the ashy residue afterwards. Of course, you don’t want to sweep up ashes with the same broom you use to clean your house because the ashes could spread throughout the home. This is why having a fireplace broom in your fireplace tool sets is so crucial.

Bellows or blow poke

Both a bellows or blow poker get used to adding extra oxygen to a smoldering fire. After a fire has been blazing for a while, the most effective technique to stoke it is using a blow poke or blow poker. Because of the long pipe and small aperture, you can inject a concentrated blast of fresh air into the heart of the fire. The benefit of a blow poke is that it allows you to maintain a safe distance. The blowpipe gets frequently used as a poker.
